A vacuum is not only used for cleaning the house. In
fact, there are other uses for a vacuum that you may even find
astounding. A vacuum can be used to clean almost anything
off the floor, wall corner or ceiling. But most
interestingly, with the use of vacuum bags, a vacuum can turn
out to be one of the best accessories used in storing items
ranging from food to clothing.
Put in the Bag
A vacuum bag is essentially an item made of rubber-coated
fabric and is open at one end but can be sealed after all the
air has been sucked out of it. This is especially useful
when you want to store things in them. And it’s so easy,
anybody can do it; just pop in whatever you want stored into a
vacuum bag, plug in your vacuum and suck the air out of the bag
until it is air tight. You can then seal the open end and
you have just created the perfect storage for items like
clothes, blankets, etc. It also helps as a space saver
because by sucking out all of the air in a vacuum bag, you can
greatly reduce the space inside the bag itself. Ever seen
those pillows that are totally flat in a bag and they get
fluffy again once you open those bags? That is a vacuum
bag stored pillow.
Other Functions
One can also use a vacuum bag to store
food, such as cereal, nuts, and dried meats. This is a
great way to save space in your fridge (although you will not
want to flatten your food items too much) and also to preserve
some of the food that you have so that it won’t spoil too
quickly. Food will eventually spoil but if you deprive
the space around the food of bacteria by using a vacuum bag to
create an air tight environment, you can slow down the spoiling
greatly. Another thing that a vacuum bag is good for is
lamination. Laminating materials is one of the hardest
things to do especially if you want to laminate materials that
are of irregular shapes and sizes. The vacuum bag is used
to enclose whole objects. Then a vacuum is used to draw
out all the air because a vacuum is essentially a pump.
Once the air is out, it holds the plastic parts of the vacuum
pack together and a pre-applied adhesive can start to cure and
hold it into place.
Lamination?
You might ask why people would laminate things in the first
place. Well, this is especially important for
manufacturers who create different molds to make their
Products, such as flat panels in construction. Those flat
panels are not made flat instantly. When they are made,
they are not entirely solid yet and need time to dry and
harden. To help make this process simple and, a vacuum
bag can be used to laminate it and hold the mold in
place. This is important because if there are any objects
that are made with irregular shapes, a vacuum bag is the best
way to laminate those objects without disturbing the
shapes. A flexible membrane (vacuum bag) is used to coat
the mold.
